Huaian Tianquan Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area

Tianquan Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is situated in Xuyi County of Huai’an City in Jiangsu Province. It belongs to a reservoir type water conservancy scenic area and was established near Huanong Reservoir. Its gross area is 47 km2, including 9 km2 of water area. Tianquan Lake is the largest mountain lake in Subei area with the good ecological environment in its scenic spot. There are over 40 wild animals, over 170 birds, more than 280 higher plants and over 800 Chinese herbal medicines. Most of them are margin species of North and South Region, which is the natural animal and plant gene pool.

In the scenic spot the mountains, forests, springs, lakes, stones and caves are entirely the wonderful creations of nature. There are many developed scenic spots such as Water Recreation Center, Wetland Park, Iron Mountain Temple, Purple Hills Observatory, Xuyi Observation Station, Relic of Volcanic Geology and Peacock Garden.

Tianquan Lake has diversified sceneries throughout a year, and a magnificent and changeful prospect occurs day and night. In the spring, the ravine stream is murmuring with the waterfowls frolicking above the water, it’s really a vivid and delicate scene; In the summer, although the fierce sun is hanging in the sky, with the water kept patting the wave one could freely enjoy the cool and comfortable night in the mountain; In the autumn, the countless fruits are all over the mountain; In the winter, a big snowfall makes it a crystal clear fairy tale world.

The scenic spot is the national AAAA class scenic spot and also a national forest park.
