The Zhuyu Bay Scenic Spot is located in Wantou Town, a rich historical and cultural relic of Yangzhou. Wantou is an ancient canal town with a history of more than 2,500 years. Because of the long zhuyu tree here, it is called Zhuyu Bay. It is a peninsula ecological zoo and botanical garden integrating natural scenery, human landscape, flowers, plant and animal viewing and modern amusement. It belongs to 4A level scenic spot.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Liubi, king of Wu kindom, opened Zhuyu ditch and Hailing warehouse (located in Yuduo Town, Jiangyan City, Jiangsu Province). And it has since become an only way which must be passed for salt transporting and grain transporting. After Emperor Yang of Sui opened the Grand Canal, the Zhuyu Bay became the gateway and important port for the waterway to enter Yangzhou. The Emperor Yang of Sui must go through this place when he frequently went to Yangzhou. The Zhuyu Bay in the Tang Dynasty was also a port where the country is in contact with other countries. In the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty, it was a beautiful place. Many famous poets in history visited Zhuyu Bay. The six southern tours of Qing Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong passed through here.
Thousands of green areas in Zhuyu Bay Park are surrounded by a number of green plants, which constitute beautiful and intoxicating plant scenery. There are first-class animal free-range viewing areas in East China, including Beast Area, Herbivore Area, Pet Area, Monkey Island, Waterfowl Fish Watching Area, Crane Ecological Park, Sea Lion Performance Hall, Beast Performance Hall, etc. Visitors can contact with animals with zero distance.
