Chishan Lake National Wetland Park is located in the southwest of Jurong City, Jiangsu Province, 15 kilometers from Jurong City and 37 kilometers from the center of Nanjing City. It features an ecological pattern of "vast lake, surrounding rivers, intertwined mudflats and dotted islands", with a total area of 1,300 hectares.
Chishang Lake, lying beside Nanjing, is one of the sources of Qinhuai River, the mother river of Nanjing. The lake is also the only natural lake in the Qinhuai River Basin and Jurong, and is known as the "No.1 Lake of Qinhuai".
The increasingly improved natural environment has made Chishan Lake more and more abundant in living species. And it has become the largest migratory bird habitat around Nanjing and Chishan Lake National Wetland Park, with more than 7,500 birds living in Chishan Lake all year round, more than 290 kinds of wintering birds every year, and it is also the temporary winter home for the whooper swans.
