The Century-old Street Tells Countless Stories of Lianyungang

Overlooking Liandao to the north and Yuntai to the south, what a picturesque place surrounded by mountains and sea. Extending from Luqiao, as a port city, Lianyungang serves as the gateway of Asia and Europe. The Lianyungang Old Street is regarded as “the Best of the Thousand-Mile Luqiao”. Buildings and services of Chinese and European styles are provided in this old street, which is full of unique charm.

In the mountain town with stone alleys and houses, the old streets are watching the world quietly. There are all-stone buildings, alleys, and roads with a layout of Siheyuan (a courtyard surrounded by buildings on all four sides), and the platanus orientalis that line both sides of the streets. Strolling along the town’s ancient streets, you can see the prosperity flooded in from the imprints of different historical eras and the accumulation of culture and humanities condensed in the passing of time, quietly and peacefully.

Wondering along the Lianyungang Old Street, every step is like walking in a movie scene. The Lianyungang Bell Tower is a landmark among the ancient streets and alleys, while the old Lianyun Railway Station has become an excellent photo-taking point for photography lovers. Besides, in the Longhai Railway History Museum, you can look back at the development of trains in different eras. In addition, there are Thirteen Taoist Rooms, the Western Concord-style Buildings from Japan, and Guochengli architecture from the Republic of China, which are all well-preserved.
