The Stunning Opening of the Haishi Shantang Market, The First Immersive Humanistic Commercial Space in Suzhou

Many markets “with characteristics” have emerged in Suzhou in recent years. For example, there are the Shuangta market full of hustle and bustle and the twenty-four Suzhou fairs with exquisite and elegant style. Not long ago, Haishi Shantang, the first immersive humanistic commercial space in Suzhou, has been established in the core of the historical and cultural area. After nearly a year of construction, the mall has made a stunning appearance, bringing a different and new experience for both locals and tourists.

Haishi Shantang is the first cultural tourism project in China with IP-based and plot-based settings. It is modernized and remodeled according to Shan Hai Jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas). Combining the traditional “Su flavor” and the modern trend, it has become a new hot spot in Suzhou.

The mall has restored the urban life of the Shantang district, which integrates Shantang fantasy with retail brands. By combining local snacks, tea and beverages, late-night cafeterias, and garden bars, it interprets the elegance of contemporary Shantang in multiple dimensions.

In this three-story building, the first floor is mainly for beverages and souvenirs. The second floor houses twenty-four-hour teahouses, which gathers a variety of Suzhou specialty snacks. In the atrium, a “Singing Phoenix Terrace” (Feng Ming Tai in Chinese) is fixed for various performances from time to time, such as Kunqu Opera, allowing visitors to have an artistic feast while enjoying food and beverages. Besides, the third floor mainly serves exotic cuisine from all over the world, where tourists can also experience Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) and purchase other cultural and creative products. The garden bars are at the top floor.

Store information on each floor is as follows:

1F: Algebraist, Yang Xiaopan, Bainian Tonghe, Jiangnan Rice Manufacturing Bureau, The Fox’s Family, Fanxin Sesame Paste, Haishi Hot Drinks, Mingzhiji Four Seasons Tea & Snacks, Fusheng Jialing Themed Restaurant, Back to Vege, Duiyin Tearoom, Spring for the Youth, Xingchun Three Siblings…
