Xihui Garden 锡惠公园

Xihui Garden, a tourist spot of AAAA class in China, is located in the west of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. With the location in the western Wuxi city, 2 miles from the downtown, the transport is convenient. It is adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, and built against Xi Mountain and Hui Mountain, thus the name is a combination of the two mountains. By virtue of the attractive landscapes and thriving culture, it enjoys the title of “open museum” and “spiritual home” of Wuxi.

4,000 or 5,000 years ago, in the Neolithic period, there already were our predecessors living in Xi Mountain, contributing to the prominence of Majiabang culture. The first emperor of Qin once had troops station here to defend the country, thus relics such as Qin Emperor Wu (“wu” is a name of a special landform in Chinese) have remained.

Li Shen, a famous poet in Tang dynasty, read books in Hui Mountain Temple when he was young and composed the poem Sympathy for the peasants: Hoeing millet in mid-day heat, Sweat dripping to the earth beneath. The garden is full of green and broad views in the classic, simple and tranquil environment. In the garden, there is Erquan Institute of Ming dynasty, Bishan Poem Club, Dianyi Platform; Huaxiaozi Memorial Hall, Qianwang Memorial Hall, Guxiancheng Memorial Hall, Ligang Memorial Hall, Zhangzhongcheng Memorial Temple; Buddhist relics such as Hui Mountain Temple, Longguang Temple and Rencao Nunnery; and Taoist relics including Yuhuang Palace and Toumao Peak, thus it is a concentrated and deposits area of three traditional Chinese cultures, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Tourist spots such as the zoo, azalea garden, children amusement park, Xihui touring cableway, bird park, interest park, peony garden and music fountain and amounts of cultural relics such as Jichang Park, tell that it is also a large comprehensive urban park with views of mountains, water, forest and streams.
