Shajiabang 沙家浜

Shajiabang-Mount Yu & Shang Lake Tourist Area is located in Changshu, a famous and historic city. The tourist area is a place integrating humanity, culture, ecology and recreation based on the local landscapes and culture of the South.

As a national forest park, Yushan Hill is famous as the burial place of Yu Zhong, so called because of an ancestor, Yu Zhong of Wu, during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties was buried here after his death, and is the important birthplace of Chinese Wu culture.

Adjacent to Yushan Hill, Shanghu Lake is famous for being the place where Jiang Shang (a very popular strategist and wise man, once the Premier that won high respect in people’s hearts) lived a reclusive life and fished there after his retreat at the end of the Shang Dynasty. With large area of wetlands and flying herons, it is China’s best ecological lake for leisure and tourism and as a revolutionary education base.

Shajiabang is famous for the Beijing Opera named Shajiabang 《沙家浜》, and has formed scenic spots including Hongshi Folk Culture Village, Hengjing Old Street, Wetland Park as well as other scenic spots. It is renowned at home and abroad for revolutionary education tourism, green ecological tourism, gold cate tourism and film tourism.
