Kunqu Opera

Kunqu Opera, also known as Kun opera, is regarded as the ancestor of Chinese operas. Originated in Kunshan, Suzhou in the 14th century, the 600-year-old Kunqu Opera is like an eternal performance that never ends. It expresses most fully the unique grace of the thousand-year-old Jiangsu through its elegant costumes, charming music, changing scenes and characters, and even every look and movement of the performers.

Tips: Kunqu Opera was inscribed in 2001 as one of the first Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
