Tianning Buddhist Temple

Tianning Temple is the largest temple in Changzhou. The Tianning Pagoda inside the temple was completed in 2007 and is one of the landmarks of Changzhou. In 2002, Tianning Temple was awarded the title of National 4A Tourist Attraction.

Tianning Temple:

The Tianning Temple has a history of over 1,350 years, since the time of the Tang Dynasty. It stands as the “First Thicket in Southeast China” due to its “soaring palaces,solemn statues of Buddha, renowned gatherings, and eminent monks in history”. The Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty has visited the Jiangnan Area six times, and three times in which he came to Tianning Temple for ceremony, and inscribed “Buddha in Dragon City” on a plaque. The Tianning Temple’s “Chanting of Buddhist Verses” has been on the List of China Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Tianning Pagoda:

The economic prosperity arouses Song Chun’s willingness and blessing to rebuilding of the Tianning Pagoda which has experienced 6 years for its completion. The 153.79m-high Tianning Pagoda consists of 13 storeys, reserving charm of Tang and Song. The total area is 27000 square meters. The whole tower was designed by Professor Lu Bingjie, a famous pagoda designer in China . It is praised as the “Pagoda of Prosperity, Culture and Legacy”.
