Suzhou Embroidery Museum

Suzhou, an ancient cultural city, is known as “paradise on earth”. The Suzhou embroidery art born in this beautiful environment has long been known worldwide. Suzhou embroidery has a history of more than 2,000 years. Suzhou Embroidery Museum, also known as China Suzhou Embroidery Art Museum, was built in 1986. The site of the museum was originally located in the famous garden garden in Suzhou, and it was moved to the Wangao Temple in Jingde Road, Suzhou in late 1988.

The whole exhibition is divided into three parts: The first is “Ancient Embroidery Room”, the second is “Ming and Qing Embroidery Room”, and the third is “modern embroidery room”. Hundreds of precious exhibits were exhibited, systematically showing the history of Suzhou embroidery development.

The exhibition hangs at the front door of the ancient embroidery room is “Suzhou’s Golden Age”, which is a long scroll of embroidery with a length of 400 cm and a width of 33 cm. After entering the door, you can also appreciate the earliest embroidered objects; In the embroidery room of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the exhibits are all representative works of the Ming and Qing Dynasties; The Modern Embroidery Room focuses on the embroidered masterpieces of China’s outstanding embroidery artists Shen Shou and Jin Jingfen.

Chinese and foreign tourists visiting here can not only understand the history of the development of Suzhou embroidery art, appreciate the traditional Suzhou embroidery masterpieces, but also watch the dazzling and exciting embroidery live performances.
