Huaian Zhou Enlai's Hometown Scenic Spot

Zhou Enlai’s Hometown Scenic Spot, located at Huai’an City of Jiangsu Province- a national historical and cultural city, is a national 5A scenic spot. Zhou Enlai’s Hometown Tourist Scenic Spot includes Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall, Zhou Enlai’s Former Residence, Fuma Lane, Ancient Town in Hexia, with the total area of 3.15 km2.

Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is consisted of memorial island, spacious water surface and circular green land around the lake. It has the total area of 400,000 m2, including 70% of the water surface. The gross building area covers 21,166 m2, and the totals area of exhibition is 7,880 m2. There are main hall and exhibition halls being established in the island, with abundant collections of Zhou Enlai’s life achievements and precious cultural relics being displayed in the exhibition hall.

There are two houses adjoined from the east to west in Zhou Enlai’s Former Residence, covering the area of 1987.4 m2, including 32 rooms in different sizes with the black bricks, gray tiles and wooden structures.

Fuma Lane is an ancient town, approximately 300 meters away from the northwest corner of Huailou of the Ancient City- Huaian Town. Zhu Yunwen, the Emperor Jianwen in Minghui Period, built a Fuma Memorial Temple for Huang Chen, the Emperor’s Son-in-law with a military rank in this lane. The famous Zhou Enlai’s Former Residence enjoyed a good reputation at home and abroad is located at this lane.

The Ancient Town in Hexia with the history of over 2,500 years is a birthplace for historic celebrities like Heroine Liang Hongyu and Great Writer Wu Cheng’en. In Ming and Qing dynasties, 67 people obtained the rank of Jinshi in Ancient Town in Hexia, which was reputed as “The Town of Jinshi” with profound cultural deposits. Hexia was the important commercial port in the history of Huai’an.
