On July 28th, The China National Tourist Office of in Sydney and Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Center in Australia & New Zealand jointly held a special promotion event of Jiangsu culture and tourism “Water Charm of Jiangsu ·  It’s more beautiful with you in it” at the China Cultural Center in Sydney. More than 30 insiders from Australian tourism industry, airlines and media companies participated in the event and enjoyed the water charm of Jiangsu province together. Under the current situation of the restart and recovery of Australian tourism, The Jiangsu Cultural & Tourism Promotion Meeting was the first offline tourism promotion event held by a province of China in Australia since the outbreak of the epidemic more than two years ago. It was also a grand event for us to re-establish contact, share information, broaden understanding and exchange trends with the Australian tourism industry for a long time, which received active participation and warm praise from the participants.

Xiao Xiayong, Director of the China National Cultural Center in Sydney and Director of the China National Tourist Office in Sydney, said in his speech, that it is very valuable for the tourism industry to conduct offline exchanges and cooperation at a time when Australia’s tourism industry is reinvigorating and recovering from the severe impact of COVID-19. Although China and Australia are far away from each other, but  as a Chinese poem described: “Bosom friends despite geographical distance, seemed to close at hand. The people-to-people exchanges and friendship between the two countries can be traced back to ancient times, it has long been an important tourist destination for each other and will enjoy broad prospects and huge potential for tourism and people-to-people exchanges. Australian friends can take this event as an opportunity to learn more about China’s splendid tourism culture and the hospitable Chinese people and deepen the traditional friendship between the two peoples. As one of the most developed provinces in China, Jiangsu province is China’s “land of fish and rice” and “paradise on Earth” in the words of the Italian traveler and merchant Marco Polo. The ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River, the classic gardens, the Grand Canal–a World Cultural Heritage, the aquatic products from the lake and river, and the laid-back lifestyle in Jiangsu province are worth visiting and experiencing for Australians.

Ms Karen, General Manager of Mw Tours in Sydney, representative of local travel agency in Australia – said that China has long been a popular and desirable destination for Australians due to its vast territory, long history and unique scenery. “Water charm of Jiangsu”shows the picturesque scenery and exquisite culture of Jiangsu, the boutique tourist routes involving Jiangsu as a tourist destination were among the most popular Chinese routes sold in Australia before the outbreak of the COVID-19. In the past two years, Australian outbound tourism has suffered a major blow and challenge from the epidemic, despite this, the Australian public’s interest  and demand for a visit to the eastern charming country still remains, the travel agents’ confidence in the Chinese market is also boosting and recovering. We all hope that we can organize tourists to visit China and Jiangsu province as soon as possible to experience the high-quality tourism and splendid culture in China.

The representative of Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Center in Australia & New Zealand gave a wonderful presentation on the theme of “Water Charm of Jiangsu”. The Jiangsu tourism community continues to deepen the creation of theme brands, strive to build rich and diversified tourism products, constantly improve the convenient and smooth tourism infrastructure facilities, and vigorously enhance the delicate and comfortable tourism services. The participants were deeply impressed and the Australian tourism industry’s understanding of the new development of Jiangsu cultural and tourism industry was greatly enhanced. The tour of the Grand Canal, the Experience Tour of water charm in Jiangsu,  the Tour of the cultural & heritage of Jiangsu and other high-quality tourist routes were introduced at the on-site promotion meeting. Everyone was eager to see the splendor of Jiangsu province.

At the event, the guests visited the “Oriental Charm — Suzhou Embroidery of China Exhibition ” being held at the China Cultural Center in Sydney, appreciated the exquisite craftsmanship of Suzhou embroidery, listened to the melodiousness of the Chinese zither, and participated in the Q & A interaction and lucky draw. Many of them expressed their hope that they would take the Australian people to see and experience the beautiful China as soon as possible and have a wonderful journey beyond their imagination.
