Xiang Yu’s Hometown

King Xiang Yu’s hometown is located in Wutong Lane. The entire scenic area copies the architectural style of the Han Dynasty. Climbing up the gate tower, overlooking armor, flags, and spears, Xiang Yu’s legendary life unfolds before you.

◎Overlord Raising the Ding

The “Overlord Ding” (ding, an ancient Chinese giant cauldron on tripods) is 2.6m high and weighs 8 tons, and the body is engraved with 64 characters, which briefly describes Xiang Yu’s life. Xiang Yu raised the ding up and down three times, and became famous all over China, attracting numerous heroic generals and soldiers to follow him and successfully overthrowing the reign of the Qin Dynasty.

◎ Battle of Gaixia

Inside the building stands a sculpture of Xiang Yu wearing battle armor, and the bows, swords, and spears displayed around it illustrate the image of Xiang Yu as a mighty “god of war”. The 12 reliefs on the four walls describe Xiang Yu’s life, and important battles such as the Battle of Pengcheng and the Farewell to the Concubine all appear on the walls

◎The Locust Tree Planted by Xiang Yu

The most striking thing in Xiang Yu Memorial Hall is this ancient locust tree. After more than 2,200 years, it is still thriving and upright. According to legend, this ancient locust tree was planted by Xiang Yu and Consort Yu. Today, the tree has become the symbol for many couples to pray for the happiness of love.

◎ Back to the Western Chu – Gate Opening Ceremony

When the drums are beaten, the ancient city gate of Western Chu is opened wide, and warriors in armor with black wraps on their heads rush out of the city gate, tumbling and jumping, waving the battle flags, showing the heroic spirit of the Chu warriors. Afterwards, the melody slows down and a row of Western Chu girls come to the front in a dignified and elegant manner, then “Xiang Yu” and “Consort Yu” hold hands to welcome all the guests and lead them into the scenic spot.
