Crab-roe Steamed Buns Cultural Museum

The crab-roe steamed buns of Jingjiang, Taizhou, have a history of a century. There is a soup-filled steamed buns museum in Jingjiang, Taizhou, namely, Crab-roe Steamed Buns Cultural Museum. It is an experience and exhibition hall of food culture that integrates soup-filled steamed buns culture, folk customs, display of cooking skills, and museum functions. Legend goes that the crab-roe steamed buns were invented by Sun Shangxiang, Sun Quan’s younger sister, during the Three Kingdoms Period when she was dating Liu Bei, so it was named “Shangxiang” from this historical story.

The cultural museum has 4 floors. In addition to the dining tables and private boxes, each floor undertakes different exhibition functions: the first floor is an exhibition area for cooking skills, the second floor is for folk customs, the third floor is for culture, and the fourth floor is a museum. If you are lucky that you can personally learn to make crab-roe steamed buns and experience the cooking process on the fourth floor, do not hesitate and do take part in it. After the learning, you will be granted a “Inheritance Certificate of Crab-roe Steamed Buns.
