Donghai County, Lianyungang is known as the “Crystal Capital of the World”. It has a reserve of 300,000 metric tons of crystals and is the distribution and processing center of crystals in the world. The crystals from Donghai were selected as one of the “Jiangsu Symbols” in 2013 for their purity and authenticity. Located on the bank of the Xishuang Lake in Donghai County, the Donghai Crystal Museum is the largest and the highest-ranking museum in China that only focuses on crystals. And the Donghai Crystal Culture Tourist Area where the museum is located is a National AAAA Tourist Attraction.
As a result of crustal movement, the Donghai crystals are buried deep in the earth and rich in various minerals, thereby forming a variety of stunning crystals in different colors. They vary in health preserving effects as well. The rutilated quartz containing hairlike minerals are clear and beautiful. The citrine can improve endocrine functions and relieve stomach discomfort; the amethyst can ease headache and stabilize emotion; pink quartz can strengthen the heart and lungs. There are also cairngorms, tea-colored citrine, and smoky quartz.
