Wuxi Three Kingdoms Film and Television City

Covering an area of 35 hectares, Wuxi Three Kingdoms Film and Television City reproduces magnificent and grand scenes in the famous TV show “The Romance of the Three Kingdoms”. According to the plot of the show, dozens of large-scale scenic spots, such as “The Palace of the King of Wu”, “Ganlu Temple”, “Waterside & Land Barracks of Cao’s Army”, “Barracks of Wu Army”, “Seven-Star Altar”, “Horse Racecourse”, and “General Appointing Platform” with typical style of Han Dynasty, have been built here. The total built-up area is up to 85,000 square meters. Later, to meet needs of shooting films, scenic spots such as “The Peach Garden”, “Jiugong Eight-Diagram Tactics”, “Battle of the Red Cliff Stunt Field”, “Arena”, and “The Ancient Plank Road of Red Cliff” have been built in a row, enriching the cultural content of the scenic area, and carrying forward the traditional culture of Chinese nation.

The solemn and awe-inspiring atmosphere of the tall and mighty gate tower with flags fluttering in the wind is intensified by the statues of Tianlu and Bixie, two divine beasts, on the square. The episode of “Empty City” (presenting a bold front to conceal a weak defense) that Zhuge Liang defeated the main forces of Sima Yi by strategy in the show was filmed here. The grand Waterside & Land Barracks of Cao’s Army under three Yuanmens (the outer gate of a government office in ancient times) are composed of Cao Cao’s General Appointing Platform, Yuanmen, four enemy buildings and towered ships, where famous episodes such as “Battle of the Red Cliff”, “Cao Cao Sings an Ode with Leveled Spear”, and “Borrowing the Enemy’s Arrows” were filmed in the show. The war drums on both sides of the platform are showing to the modern people the prestige and charm of Cao Cao, a heroic figure at that time. Standing here reminds tourists of the well-known stories about the countless heroes of the Three Kingdoms era, who have been admired by generations to come.
