Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot 无锡灵山胜境

Lingshan scenic spot, a national AAAAA level scenic spot, is located in the beautiful Mashan mountain of Wuxi, Lingshan mountain in the north and Taihu Lake in the south. It is the most complete and the only Buddhist cultural theme park in China that focuses on the achievements of Sakyamuni, combining the long-standing Buddhist culture with the beautiful natural landscape. After 17 years of development and construction, it has become a famous Buddhist cultural tourism resort at home and abroad, receiving more than 3 million tourists from all over the world every year.

Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot consists of 27 small spots, among which the Grand Buddha, the Nine Dragons Bathing Shakyamuni and the Brahma Palace are considered as the three wonders. The whole building complex are built along the mountain, from the mountain gate in the south tothe Lingshan Grand Buddha in the north to form a central axis, while other buildings extendedtowards both sides of the axis, The building complex has absorbed the decoration essence ofChinese traditional wood carving, stone carving, jade carving and so on, forming a majesticmomentum with a solemn and harmonious layout.

Lingshan Grand Buddha

The Lingshan Grand Buddha was completed in 1997 and has been blessed by eminent monks. Grand Buddha in Wuxi has completed China’s pattern of five Buddhas staying in five directions in China. Mr. Zhao Puchu, former president of the Buddhist Association of China, once praised the Lingshan Grand Buddha as “the consummation of the Five Buddhas in five directions of China”.The Lingshan Grand Buddha is 88 meters high alone, and 101.5 meters high adding the three-storey pedestal. With a total of 725 tons of copper used, it is assembled and welded with 2,000 pieces of cast copper siding.The Grand Buddha has its right hand raised in a gesture of “Abhaya Mudra”, symbolizing the relief of pains, and its left hand raised in “Varada Mudra”, representing the blessing of happiness. The smooth and flowing lines of its clothing show a strong three-dimensional feeling. The Grand Buddha is no doubt the perfect blend of aerospace science and technology, history, culture and religion.

Nine Dragons Bathing Shakyamuni

Nine Dragons Bathing Shakyamuni is a large music fountain reproducing  the miraculous birth of the royal prince, Shakyamuni Buddha.As the music Birth of Buddha plays, the top six lotus petals gently bloom with the golden Buddha statue rising up from the center, rotating 360 degrees clockwise. The image of prince in Nine Dragons Bathing Shakyamuni combines the innocence of a child with the dignity of a Buddha.The scene is spectacular.

Brahma Palace

As the site of the World Buddhist Forum and a palace hall of the Buddhist culture and art, the Brahma Palace is built along the mountain and has gathered wisdom of masters and elites from all walks of life in modern China such as architecture, design, Buddhism, painting, music, and art communities. It integrates elements of Chinese Buddhist grotto art and traditional Buddhist architecture, becoming an original and pioneering masterpiece of Buddhist architectural art and being hailed as the Oriental Louvre Museum.

Five-Mudra Mandala

Five-Mudra Mandala which opened in October 2011 is another excellent tourist project besides Brahma Palace. The whole Mandala covers an area of about 5,000 square meters and is surrounded by the clear and tranquil Ocean of Fragrant Water.The Exhibition Hall of Tibetan Buddhism Culture and Arts displays many statues of Buddha. They are exquisite in workmanship and rich in themes, with distinct national characteristics and significant regional characteristics.

Lingshan scenic spot, a characteristic cultural park integrating ancient oriental culture into modern civilization, and integrating profound Buddhist culture into landscape construction,not only amazes visitors with its landscape and culture, but also allows them to purify the mind and understand the culture.
