Tianning Temple

The Tianning Temple, located in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, has a history of over 1,350 years. It stands as the “First Thicket in Southeast China” due to its “soaring palaces, solemn statues of Buddha, renowned gatherings, and eminent monks in history”. The Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Jade Buddha Hall, the Three Treasures Hall, and the Tianning Pagoda are located on the central axis behind the mountain gate. The Arhat Halls stand on the east and west sides. The Manjusri Hall, the Puxian Hall, the Guanyin Hall and the Dizang Hall, which symbolize the four major rites of Chinese Buddhism, are located in each corner respectively. The halls and pavilions are connected by long corridors, and the temples and towers are subtly integrated. The buildings are elegantly shaped and exquisitely constructed. All of them constitute a piece of fine work demonstrating architectural art with Buddhist characteristics and modern style. The Tianning Temple is the Jiangsu historical and cultural site protected at the provincial level and the 4A scenic spot at the sate-level.
