With the location in the city parlor of Wuxi— Taihu Square and the building area of 71,000 m2, it is the biggest public cultural service facility in Wuxi City.
The modern steel structure is employed in the whole architecture, forming the massive image but also possessing the spirit of water culture in Wu area (a collective name of Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui). Meanwhile, it embodies the design idea of “water quality in the stone view” and is the typical architecture in Wuxi. It is divided into two floors underground and five floors on the ground. Under the sunlight, the building will shine with golden light. In the night, the pleasant glow and color of the lights will present an enchanting view.
In addition, there are five exhibition halls of the Wuxi Museum. The five special exhibition halls under its administration include Zhou Huaimin Painting Colletion Hall, Wuxi Chinese Nationality Industry and Commerce Museum, Former Residence of Zhang Wentian and Cheng Ji Gallery.
There are four sections including Cultural Museum History, Scientific Achievements, Film Education and Special Feature and 24 regular exhibitions, revealing the regional cultural feature of Wuxi and demonstrating the distinctive city quality and charm of Wuxi.
At the same time, the museum is equipped with advanced digital management and display system of cultural relics and virtual museum online. Besides, advanced special-effect film theater and academic report hall with SI service of five languages are built, thus it is a large multi-function, comprehensive and modern museum combining the functions of education, introduction, touring, entertainment and involvement in the interactions.
