Chinese Abacus Museum 中国珠算博物馆

The abacus is the great creation of the working people in ancient China. The Chinese Abacus Museum of Nantong is located in ,the bank of HAOHE as a national 5A level beautiful scenic spot, which has 30mu’s floor area with over 6,000 m2 coverage region. The museum has over 10,000 collections related to cultural relics and historical data, including over 4,000 historic ancient books and records, most of them are the only existing copies, good editions during the China’s abacus history. There are over 2,000 abacus appliances with different shapes from the countries like China, Japan, India, Russia, Malaysia in different historical periods.

In the museum, it established the Abacus History Hall, Abacus Boutique Hall and Rosewood Abacus Hal, which is the world’s largest Abacus Thematic Museum. It is also the inheritance base of “Chinese abacus calculation”(a World Intangible Cultural Heritage). In this museum, it expounds the far-reaching significance of abacus history, displays the ancient and present abacus with different forms. Inheriting the spirit of Chinese Zhusuan and carrying forward traditional culture by conducting Youth Abacus Mental Arithmetic Education as its main responsibility.

The main building of the museum is novel and unique with well-proportioned layout, which integrates the functions concerning the exhibition, research, teaching, communication and travel. HAOHE, winded around the cities, being reputed as the “Emerald Necklace on the Maiden’s Neck,” Chinese Abacus Museum emerged as one of the brightest jewels.
